Tiny Eyes Looking At Us, And Living Among Us, Too.

There's no one else that I'd be referring to other than those Chinese and Koreans walking around our malls, restaurants, and other public places. Hey, they are not ill-mannered and talk different languages in which we can only hear "minyangiyhoainogiog hahahoa!! or if you cannot totally get what they're saying, "*$%&^#$*^ !!". Unless you understand their language, or at least "An nyoung ha seh yo!!" and "Ni hao ma!", then it would be much better.

They look cute, really, you have to admit it, those tiny eyes and yellow or bright-colored skin with a giggly voice (for girls). Well it really depends though, because not all of them are gorgeous if you ask, except for Chinese/Korean celebrities.You might see them wearing weird clothes. If you haven't met any, then just turn on your TV and tune it to a Korean or Chinese channel or a music channel to watch their music videos popularly known as K-Pop, etc.

Koreanovelas must be very popular here in the Philippines, or even the famous Meteor Garden, one of the very first famous Chinese TV series everyone used to watch back then. "Daomingchuuuu!!" Remember that? Doesn't sound funny anymore but you'd recall how it made a big impact on the society.

For the record, Tsinoy population has a total number of 1,146,250 (interesting huh?) while Koreans are 115,400 as of 2009. That's a lot for them to live here, and they have to admit that our country is beautiful. I don't think there is no objection to that. :)

Chinese people have a solid role function in the country, owning large businesses participating in the Philippine economy. They go well among us along with our culture, and we Filipinos are used to seeing them around. They blended well with us. Many have started their own families that became completely part of the nation.

Chinese food are also very popular in the country, even the famous Chowking restaurant shows a tint of Chinese. Food stalls selling Siopao, Siomai, Shanghai, etc. are very abundant. Noodles are also very good for meriendas. Now that I remember, I just made myself hungry.

Korean food? Spicy goodness! There's a lot of Korean restaurant here, and some have this stove thingy at the center of the table and then you'd go cook yourself some raw meat and mix them with some weird stuff. Yummy?

Many South Koreans living in the Philippines like the cheap cost of English-language education and housing. Hmmm, they want to learn Englishing. Well then, let's teach them more Englishing!

Do you think you are hot? Whether yes or no, our country is hot too. Warmer climate is yet another motivating factor for the recent surge in migration. They like our country a lot for being hot! How's that?

Korean men in involved in sex tourism to the Philippines has resulted in the birth of an estimated 10,000 children of mixed Korean and Filipino descent to unwed Filipina mothers. This is a sad bit of the story but we Filipinos should know our responsibilities to prevent these situations.

But wait, there's something bugging inside my head, and to yours too. Why is it that they are all coming to our country when their country are much wealthier? It's weird since a bunch of Filipinos are also going out of the country to migrate to more developed countries. Pretty odd but let's just say they liked our country a lot. :)


Well that's some little understanding to them. After all, there's nothing wrong to co-exist with these fellow Asian people and we blend well with one another. :)

Boys Equals Girls?

To be in general and what most of us agree on:

2. Playboys
3. Jealousy
4. Not expressive
5. Gimik days

Girls are born to be housewives. They don’t have to study. They’ll end up marrying and staying at home anyway, so why waste education on them? Their role is to be pretty and proper. They are meant to be displays, trophies. They are meant to serve us men and raise the children properly. That is a woman’s purpose.

Boys are born to be leaders. They are born to be great. They should be properly educated so that one day they can be great contributors to society. They should be the breadwinners. Boys should not express their emotions. Crying is weak and boys are supposed to be strong. 

They always say that the girls should be the ones in-charge of housekeeping; washing the dishes, sweeping the floor, cooking, doing the laundry, etc. That’s considered normal especially in the Philippines since we are patriarchal. One time I had a conversation with my father:

“Kayo na dapat yung maghugas ng pinggan ninyo, tulong-tulong tayo dapat sa mga gawaing bahay.”

“Tulong-tulong po ba talaga, o kami lang po na mga babae? So, ibig sabihin rin po ba, pati si kuya, siya na yung maghuhugas ng pinagkainan niya?”

“Well... kayong mga babae.”

“Ah, yes. I see.”

“Well, ganoon talaga. Life is unfair.”

I have no problem helping out with household chores but I hate how men always imply that it’s the women’s job. Although, even the other women, they say that it’s the women’s duty. Some even say that we shouldn't even get jobs anymore because we won't be needing it. Because we would be depending on our husbands for money. We are seen as dependent, weak, fragile beings. It's like they're saying that we can't do anything, we can't act on our own. We need to have permission from our husbands or our fathers. Society had dictated us how to act.

Boys are treated unfairly too, though. They always have to be strong. They shouldn't show their emotions because they say that it's a sign of weakness. They shouldn't cry because it means they're gay. That's why so many men are uncomfortable crying or saying what they feel, for fear of being seen as weak. Boys should be the ones to have jobs. They shouldn't be the ones who stay at home because that's girly, and a big blow to their "ego".

The simplest solution is to understand and respect both sexes. No gender is more superior to the other. We should support each other. Both sexes can compromise, actually. If for example the husband is the one working and giving the financial support, the wife can do the household chores and give the emotional support. It can also be the other way around. The point is, no one should dictate someone's "role" based on gender.
